Nightmare Before Christmas House
Mission Viejo, CA 92691
This story is a review from Yelp
“Jack Skellington came here from Halloween Town,
You’ll notice his handiwork scattered around.
This year he’s decided to play “Sandy Claws,”
But when Halloween creates Christmas you might see some flaws.”

When Bill Ford became disenchanted with his “standard” Christmas display, his wife suggested if he was going to change things up, he should do something unique.
And that is how the Nightmare Before Christmas House was born …
The theme is a Nightmare Before Christmas Toy Shop complete with characters working hard to make toys for kids around the world.
“Making Christmas, making Christmas
Snakes and spiders get wrapped up
So nice with spider legs and pretty bows
It’s ours this time”
When the toys are ready they are hauled to “Sandy Claws” who takes them to sleeping children around the world. Of course, the real Santa Claus was given the year off courtesy of Lock, Shock and Barrel. Similar Content: House Cleaning Portola Springs
“Kidnap the Sandy Claws
Tie him in a bag
Throw him in the ocean
Then, see if he is sad”

The display also reminds you that Christmas is almost here!
The entire display (sans the lights) are all handmade and it takes over 48 hours of total time to set up. Every year he adds more pieces from the Tim Burton cult classic The Nightmare Before Christmas and the attention to detail would make Disney Imagineers proud. He also sets up an equally engaging Halloween display with a “restaurant” theme.

We were lucky enough to talk to Bill this year and he was more than happy to give his permission to allow me to post his address and review his display. He also talked about how he comes up with the pieces and how each piece is made. The display has won the Holiday Home Lighting Contest by Holly Jolly Lights Tours two of the last three years (he did not enter his home last year).

Rohlinism: The only thing better than a healthy dose of holiday cheer is a huge helping of holiday fear!
If you are in the area and looking for some “holiday fear”, stop by this house and check it out. The display is kid friendly (nothing nightmarish despite the name), but be prepared to search for parking as there is usually a crowd around the house. And if you bring Bill some goodies, you might just find your name on his list the following year!
