Easiest thing to do to get rid of clutter is to ensure that there is no clutter in the first place. Before you make a purchase, make a mental note of exactly what you need. Just because those large storage totes are on sale and would look great in the laundry room, doesn’t mean that you necessarily need them. It all depends on what you actually need.
Reorganizing your home is a large and somewhat daunting task. If you try to tackle the entire house at once, you’ll just end up overwhelming and frustrating yourself. Take it once step at a time, whether it be a drawer, a closet, or even a shelf.
The easiest and fastest way to declutter your items is to comb through all your stuff and separate them into 2 piles: one to keep and one to discard. If you want to take it a step further, you can later go through the discard pile and see what you can possibly sell at a garage sale, donate, or just discard.
Often times, by the time we’re done organizing our items and have collected a box of things to discard, we’re too tired to sort through that box and so we’ll just store the box in the garage and tell ourselves that we’ll organize it tomorrow. Most likely, once it’s in the garage, we’ll forget about it and it becomes clutter in the garage. Instead, just leave the box of things in plain sight, such as the middle of the living room. This way, it’ll directly be within your line of sight and soon, you’ll get tired on looking at it and take the necessary steps to get rid of it.
I wish ya’ll all the best luck in your decluttering and organizing journey!
